This is a very emotional day. I am overwhelmed. I will be watching and a part of it even from my own living room. This a a moment for all of us.
I am proud to be an American.
I have never said that before, had these feelings of patriotism. Patriotism equalled jingoism.
Then I moved to Europe. And, I had the opportunity of meeting peoples from all over - who had pride in their country. Had pride in things built in their country, that represented their country. And I wondered.
And then there was this election. And, today, I stand up as an American.

Snowy Grand Day
It was a lovely day here in Ann Arbor. We had at least six inches of snow. It was perfect out at the park for cross country skiing.
Don't let me fool you. I am not an expert. This was my third time skiing. But, it was quite a successful day. I never fell. I glided, kicked and lunged like a near knowledgeable skier. Not bad for a Floridian.
First time cross country skiing was in the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden at the Ice Hotel. That was quite another experience altogether. We did that a few years ago.
The second time was here about three weeks ago. I became quite good at getting up from the snow.
But today - I was all glide.

Settling into the new year
We're still on vacation. Some would say I have been on a continual five year vacation, but I still feel that I have had a reprieve the last two weeks. No alarm has gone off, no schedules, time together. And in a few short days, it will all stop.
Then I can start my normal vacation time. Don't get me wrong. I am working. Part time, and on line, and I am writing.
Writing, you say, what are you writing. Funny you should ask. A funny thing happend on the way to the forum.
Excuse me, I digress again.
Time to finish my daily word count then to cooking.

Happy 2009 - Happy New Year
I have said good bye to 2008. Not the best year for most people. For me, it meant repatriating back to the US from a five year stint in England. It was not easy to do, and I find I am still a recovering expat. Maybe it is something that you never get cured from, you can only keep under control.
The economics this year - well, who needs to say anymore. Yuck, yuck, yuck.
The US election - Yes We Did!
Hello 2009. Can the economy get worse? No pain no gain? On the street. Is that Main Street or Wall Street? Any credit is better than no credit at all.
And, what are they saying - It will get worse before it gets better.
Happy New Year!
