Case of the Cheated Wife

Okay - so maybe it sounds a little like stand by your man, but people get a life - that goes for you too, Maureen Dowd. How Elizabeth Edwards chooses to deal with the issues in her life, how she works through her feelings -- well, that is her choice.

How do we make her the villian in this? It happened almost immediately when the story came out. Blame was foisted on Elizabeth Edwards for standing by him. What is your problem out there?

How many of the people out there complaining and pointing fingers have been forced to deal with the death of a son, terminal cancer, the spotlight of being a presidential candidate's wife, and then forced to deal with the very public exposure of a spouse's affair? If her carthasis is coming public in TV and her book - what is that to you? She's the one dealing with it. She's the one dying. And, she's the one that has to figure out how to handle the rest of her shortened life.

The Birds Is Coming

It is a glorious day. There is warmth, with still a hint of coolness in the air. I am sitting on my deck, after a day of weeding in the yard, watching the birds surround the bird feeders, and dip into the bird bath. Quite a way to spend a spring day.

The bleeding hearts are in full bud, the ferns are unfurling -- and the only sound in the air are the birds. The sky is still blue, though their is the sense of evening settling in.

And I just saw my first hummingbird of the season.

Pirates and Mass murderers

Reading today's news about the pirate attacks in Somali, I couldn't help but be amazed that no one has died yet - an amazing number of attacks, held ships and hostages - and apparently lots of money flowing.

But, just last week there was something like 66 people killed in the US in mass attacks.

So where should we really be worried -- off the coast of Somali or in the US.

The Crime of Rejecting the Stimulus Money

I had one of those out of body experiences today when a list of the 20 most dangerous states showed up on AOL. The top 8 states included five states that the governors are rejecting at least a portion of the stimulus money. Money that includes additional policeman, education, unemployment assistance. We already know that there is a correlation of problems in school with crime.

These governors should be on the wall of SHAME -

Nevada the number 1 state in crime
Louisiana - the number 2 state in crime
South Carolina - the number 3 state in crime
Tennessee - the number 6th state in crime
ALASKA - the number 7th state in crime.

Is this what we expect from our leaders. Shame on you for not caring about your state and the people that most need the help.

Mothers Lament

Johnny started school today
and came home all in pieces.
What’s a mother to do?
Listen to me. Hold my hand. Look
both ways. Mind your P’s and Q’s.
Never talk to strangers. Tuck
in your shirt. Avoid troublemakers.
Respect your elders. Eat your peas.
And you’ll grow to be strong and sure.

Johnny went to school today.

Rat-a-tat-tat rat-a-tat-tat
rounds and rounds of ammunition
ring around the rifle we all fall down.

and he came home all in pieces.
What’s a mother to do?

A Bit of Paradise

Sunny south Florida in winter. Low humidity, temperatures in the low 70's, breezy ocean air, with that hint of salt to its aroma. What could be better after leaving the cold waning wintery scene in Michigan - alternating between snow, ice, and slush.
What a lovely time to be here. I can understand the lure for the snowbirds.
